Being a college student has really tested my focus and concentration skills, and I’ve learned that it’s not a big deal if you can’t concentrate for hours at a time, it’s just not possible at least for me.
Which is why I learned through the years to use a timer, usually I set it for 15 minutes to do work and then taking a tiny break anywhere from 3-5 minutes. It’s like the pomodoro technique but with a shorter attention span, instead of a break every 25 minutes it’s every 15 minutes.
Another technique is to move places, so I try to stay in one place for a minimum of 2 hours then I pack my bag and move to another spot. The change helps me feel invigorated and ready to do work. Which is why I like to go to cafe's like Starbucks because being outside knowing I can't stay there forever motivates me to do my work and then leave.
